It’s always stressful trying to pick out Halloween costumes for the whole family, not to mention expensive to buy prepackaged costumes from seasonal Halloween stores. Creating DIY costumes for the whole family can best showcase your creative side and best of all, save money! Here are some ideas for costumes to incorporate clothes you probably already have around the house.

• The now-classic: Minion. Minions have become a staple of Halloween costumes in the past three years because of the simplicity of the costume. All it takes is a yellow t-shirt, jeans, and science goggles! If you want to add to your costume you can even print out the minion logo and tape it on.
• Cowboy/Cowgirl. This one is super easy and simple, not to mention, perfect for late October weather. You’ll need a flannel shirt, jeans, and cowboy boots. Extra point if you already have a cowboy hat, but if not, a red bandana will suffice! This is perfect if your little one loves Toy Story and wants to be Woody for the night. If you want to go out and buy one or two things for this, we recommend you buy cowboy chaps or a fake sheriff’s badge to better accessorize the costume.
• Rosie the Riveter. From the very recognizable ads from the 1940s, Rosie the Riveter was an early symbol for feminism during World War II. All you need is: a denim shirt, jeans and a red bandana to tie around your head. Add some red lipstick and you’ll be instantly recognizable!
• Power Rangers or Crayons. This one is great for a large group of kids! Dress each kid in all the one color and have them stay together. This is timeless because crayons never go out of style, and power rangers are always a classic for kids!
