Adding something different and unique to holiday family time can make Thanksgiving extra special for the whole family. There is such a wide variety of different turkey-day activities to experience, so enjoy exploring these options with your family by picking an annual tradition that you can look forward to together year after year.

  1. Run a “Turkey Trot.” Are you passionate about exercise or running? Do it as a family and work up a Thanksgiving-sized appetite in time for dinner. Turkey Trots are fun runs that often raise money for charity. The 8th Annual United Way Turkey Trot in Savannah is still open to sign up!
  2. Have a mini-pumpkin hunt! Similar to an Easter egg hunt, this game is great for families with a wide range of ages! Toddlers can participate, and older kids still enjoy either seeking for or hiding small pumpkins. You can also tape treats to the bottom of the pumpkins, or paint and decorate the findings afterwards!
  3. Play Thanksgiving Parade Bingo with your family! The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a tradition over 90 years old that never fails to entertain! Adding a game of bingo can make watching the parade much more interactive, competitive, and engaging for younger kids! Download a free bingo card from com
  4. Build a thankful turkey. You can build a simple turkey ahead of time using Styrofoam crafting pieces. Then, using construction paper, create “feathers.” On Thanksgiving, everyone can contribute to building the turkey by writing something they are thankful for and using a push-pin to fasten it as a turkey tail! This activity is great for all ages and teaches thankfulness and thoughtfulness to toddlers (and adults)!
  5. Get outside! One of the perks of living in Georgia is that warm weather hasn’t completely vanished by November. Outdoor minute-to-win-it games are more inclusive to all ages than your typical rambunctious game of football. Plus, they’ll have everyone laughing.
